The Prophet (P.B.U.H) : A Model Of Humility

Qur’an on Humility

“And do not walk upon the earth arrogantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], nor will you reach the mountains in height.”

(Surah Al-Isra 17:37)

 Explanation:

  • Arrogance has no place in the life of a believer.
  • The Prophet (P.B.U.H) , despite being the final Messenger, never lived with pride.
  • He showed that true greatness is in humility before Allah and people.

Hadith on the Prophet’s Humility

Anas ibn Malik (RA) reported:
“The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H) used to visit the sick, attend funerals, ride donkeys, and accept the invitations of slaves. On the day of Khaybar, he was riding a donkey with a cloth saddle.”

(Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 1017)

Meaning:

  • He never considered himself above others.
  • His life was simple, approachable, and free from arrogance.
  • He ate what was available, sat where space was, and dressed with modesty.

Lessons from the Prophet’s Humility

Equality in Community

  • He treated slaves, rich, and poor with the same respect.

Simplicity in Lifestyle

  • No luxury, no arrogance — only gratitude.
Even as a leader, he sat and ate with his companions like an equal.

Service as Honor

  • He mended his own clothes, milked goats, and helped at home.
  • True dignity is in serving, not being served.

Psychological Connection

  • Humility builds stronger human bonds — it removes barriers of ego.
  • Modern psychology says humble leaders are more respected and create healthier communities.
  • Humility lowers stress, because a humble heart doesn’t chase constant validation.

Real-Life Reflection

  • At Home: Share chores, avoid arrogance, respect everyone’s contribution.
  • At Work: Treat juniors and staff with the same respect as seniors.
  • In Society: Remember, no title, wealth, or fame makes us superior — humility is the real honor.

Takeaway for Life

The Prophet (P.B.U.H) proved that the greatest leader is the humblest servant.
True greatness isn’t in status, but in lowering yourself for the sake of others and Allah.

“Humility is the crown of true greatness.  The Prophet (P.B.U.H) lived simply, served others, and led with humility.”
