The Remembrance Of Allah Do Hearts Find Rest
“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
Reference : (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:28)
Explanation: Peace Is Not in the Outside World — It’s in the Heart
In this profound verse, Allah ﷻ gives us a timeless truth:
True calmness, relief, and inner peace come from remembering Him — not from external things.
Whether it’s:
. Stress about work
. Fear of the future
. Relationship struggles
. Anxiety over loss or uncertainty
the heart won’t truly settle until it connects with its Creator.
Connection with Human Psychology
Let’s break this down psychologically:
1. Stress comes from disconnection.
When you’re disconnected from your purpose or overwhelmed by life, your brain interprets everything as a threat — leading to:
. Racing thoughts
. Shallow breathing
. Negative emotions
. Panic or depression
This is where Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) comes in as emotional regulation.
The heart craves what the soul was created for.
According to Islamic psychology (Ilm an-Nafs), the soul (nafs) is only at peace when it is:
. Aligned with Allah
. Obedient to its purpose
. Surrendered, not resisting life’s trials
The more we try to fill our hearts with distractions (social media, shopping, people’s approval), the more stressed we feel.
But remembrance brings clarity, grounding, and purpose.
Real-Life Reflection:
Imagine you’re overwhelmed by sadness or uncertainty. You pause, raise your hands in du’a, or quietly say:
“Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel” (Allah is sufficient for us and the best disposer of affairs).
Immediately, your heart feels lighter, not because the problem disappeared, but because the burden shifted — from you to Allah ﷻ.
Emotional Prescription:
When you’re feeling stressed, try this 5-step Qur’anic therapy:
Pause and breathe deeply.
Recite or listen to this ayah (13:28) — slowly and mindfully.
Repeat a dhikr like La ilaha illallah 100 times.
Talk to Allah — unload your fears in du’a.
Visualize the verse — imagine peace entering your heart as you remember Him.
Final Reminder:
Allah knows your pain, your stress, and your silent prayers.
Let this ayah remind you that the calm you’re searching for is already within reach — not in the world, but in His remembrance.
“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
