Trials and calamities are a test.
According to hadith:
“The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial, when ALLAH loves people he tests them. Whoever accepts the trials, WINS ALLAH’s pleasure, but whoever discontent with that, earns ALLAH’s wrath!”
