“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband’s) absence what Allah would have them guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband’s pro…perty, etc.)…” [Surah Nisa 4:34]
“And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable” [al-Baqarah 2:228]
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) “The most perfect of the believers in faith are the best of them in morals. And the best among them are those who are best to their wives.” [Ahmad, #7354, and Al-Tirmizi, #1162]
