Is Wishing Merry Christmas Permissible In Islam?

Is Wishing Merry Christmas or taking part in the Celebration of Christmas Permissible in Islam?

Most of the Islamic scholars think that It is not permissible to wish non-Muslims Merry Christmas, because such a greeting is a religious greeting and we Muslims are not allowed to adopt any custom or style of their religion.

According to Dr. Zakir Naik, it is absolutely unacceptable to wish people for Christmas. When you are wishing Merry Christmas to them, you are agreeing that he is the son of God and that is Shirk (sin). Because they believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Irrespective of whether they are practicing Christians or not, they celebrate the day because of His birthday
